Evaluation: How does your media product represent particular social groups?

The way we have written our script is very sterotypical for teenagers. Teenagers often fight over boys and we also included this into our radio drama. We found the drama alright to write because we had aimed Listen at teenagers we just wrote about what we would want to listen to and just added a bit of drama into it. All the characters are using their own voices because they are teenagers anyway so this just made it easier. We tried to display the characters Roxy and Belle to be quite up themselves and make people think that they were quite bitchy. We tried to make Max out to be really evil but also innocent when he was talking to Belle. This made the audeince hate his character which is what we wanted to achieve.

Male and Females were also other social groups which were displayed within our drama. Throught the script males were proven to be a lot more dominant. For example...

Roxy: ' Why are you doing this to me? What have I done to deserve this?'
Max: ' I just know that you like me Roxy, don't deny it..'
Roxy: ' I dont like you..I hate you! Get away from me!!'
Max: ' I will find you!'

This extract shows that Max is being really forceful and powerful as he trys to undermine Roxy. Despite Roxt telling Max that she hates him, she can be seen as weak and scared.

Evaluation: What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

When making the advertisement I placed our radio drama on BBC Radio 2. We made this decision after we decided whether we wanted our drama to be commericial or public out of which we went for public. After looking at the various radio stations we ruled out all the stations that contained majority music and advertisments so stations such as Radio 1, radio 1xtra and music stations such as Kiss FM and kerrang. We looked at BBC Radio 2, 3 and 4 and we soon found out that most radio dramas were distributed on radio 4. Popular programs such as The Archers were launched on this radio station. However we opted for BBC Radio 2 because the audience we were looking to aim the drama at was teenagers and after looking at the listings on radio 2. They played a lot of music on BBC Radio 2 however at times they had certain parts where they would read a story. By the music being played we thought this might attract a young audience and they might listen to the radio drama after a song has finished playing.

Evaluation: Who would be the audience for your media product?

We tried to aim our radio drama at teenagers as much as possible but after listening to the drama I think that older people up to 30 would also be interested in listening to it because we offer a lot of real life situations such as rape and suicide in the storyline. I am hoping that the drama will inform teenagers what the real life is like and that its not always a nice place. We generated positive feedback from a class that listened to our drama and the class was ranged from 17-23 year olds and they all seemed to enjoy what they were listening too.

If I was to listen to the drama I think I would enjoy it because it is the sort of storyline that I would be itnerested in listening too. Our drama didn't contain any bad language which is why I wrote for it to be played at 6pm. This is a prime time for radio because a lot of families listen to the radio whilst eating dinner.
